Another must for the awkward stage is a fabulous pair of maternity jeans. Once you take the plunge you’ll wonder why you resisted for so long. Don’t underestimate the difference between trying to squish yourself into your regular jeans (even with the button undone) and the comfort of a low cut design that fits below your belly. Gone are the days of wide elastic panels that go over your belly; designers are now focused on making their designs as close as possible to regular styles by adding subtle elastic panels at the waist. This allows you to wear them during the transition period until you fit into your regular wardrobe again. The most comfortable designer jeans are made from 4-way XFIT LYCRA denim that moves in all directions giving you an extraordinary amount of movement. My favorite styles are designed by J Brand and Serfontaine. If you are still more comfortable with fabric over your belly James Jeans is a good option.
